Who cares about fox hunting?

Two things about this story strike me as odd.

First, why is a story about Britan's House of Commons banning fox hunting featured on the home page of the Seattle Times newspaper? What does that have anything to do with Seattle, or general world interest? I don't get it.

Second, at the end of the article, it says:
John Jackson, chairman of the pro-hunting Countryside Alliance, said hunters would not cooperate with a ban and said "true civil disobedience is now on the horizon."
Doesn't civil disobedience have to be, you know... civil? As in, "without resorting to physical violence"? Seems like killin' foxes for the fun of it would qualify as physical violence. But maybe that's just me.

physical, of course only refers to people . . and speaking of fers, if we weren't supposed to wear them, why are they so cute?
