How Disappointing

sadThough it was exactly what I expected to happen, I am still disappointed that Judge Bridges has ruled that the result of Washington's massively flawed election for governor will stand. Essentially what we have in this state now is a situation in which no amount of proven wrong-doing can result in an election being thrown out. There could be 100,000 proven illegal votes in an election where the margin of victory was 1 vote, and it would have to stand, because it cannot be proven with "clear and convincing evidence" for whom the illegal votes were cast.

As a result of this decision, it appears that Rossi supporters (like myself) have a very limited set of options available to see the state run in a more responsible way.
  • Vote for other like-minded candidates in upcoming elections, and hope that mysterious discrepancies and plainly illegal votes don't also throw those elections.
  • "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em." Stoop to their level and cast as many votes as you feel like.
  • Kidnap Christine Gregoire and replace her with a doppelganger.
Maybe we should do all three, just to be sure.
